The Teaching and Experimental Center of theSchoolof Life Science and Technology was formerly known as the Laboratory of Biomedical Engineering. In order to meet the needs of talent cultivation for the interdisciplinary development of science, engineering and medicine, the Teaching and Experimental Center of theSchoolof Life Science and Technology was established in 2004, and approved as‘Shaanxi Province Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Life Science’in 2012. The Center has 13 undergraduate laboratories, including Molecular Biology Laboratory, Cell Biology Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, Basic Laboratory of Life Science, Intelligent Medical Information Laboratory and Medical Sensing and Instrumentation Laboratory. The center undertakes the experimental teaching tasks of more than 20 majors, such as biomedical engineering, biotechnology, chemical and biological experimental classes, science experimental classes, mathematics experimental classesandphysics experimental classes. Also itundertakes the experimental teaching tasks of large areas of public courses such as basic life science I, basic life science II and principle of biotechnology for the whole university. The center has 1,132 sets of experimental equipment with a total value of 11.61 million yuan. At present, it has set up 41 experimental courses and 235 experimental projects. More than 20 kinds of experimental textbooks have been published and more than 20 kinds of experimental handouts have been compiled by ourselves. It has been approved 1 national virtual simulation experimental project and 1 excellent experimental course of Shaanxi Province. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 10 experimental and practical teaching reform projects, and supported students to win 139 awards in science and technology competitions such as International Genetically Engineered Machine competition, China College Students 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and‘National Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Innovation Design Competition’.
