Bio-medical Nanomaterials
International Summer School(XJTISS)
Introduction
Biomedical nanomaterials are a prominent field within nanotechnology that seeks to address the clinical and biomedical issues using biomaterials at the nanoscale. Being an interdisciplinary subject, this research field combines knowledge from materials science, physics, chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, biology, etc., with the significant social and economic benefits.
This course will present the most recent advancements in nanomaterials for medical diagnosis and treatment, exploring nanomedical materials, nanomedicines, and nanodiagnostics that are undergoing clinical trials or have been commercialized. This will enable students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of core concepts of the nanomaterials and nanomedicine, as well as grasp the current applications of existing nanomaterials in biomedical research and clinical medicine. Furthermore, they will gain familiarity with nanomaterials, and gain insights into the development trend of nanomedicine and its potential application areas.
Additionally, the course will feature guest lectures by Dr. Xingcai Zhang from Harvard University and Dr. Zheng Zhong from Lyell Immnuopharma Inc., who will provide insights into the development and application of microfluidics, 3D printing, and other technologies in biomedicine.
Teaching Group
Zhe Yang, Ph.D, was graduated from Sun Yat-sen University in 2015 and worked in University of California San Diego in 2017 as a visiting scholar. Currently, he works in School of Life Science and Technology in Xi’an Jiaotong University and is the deputy director of Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Biomedical Engineering. His research interests include biomaterials, nanomedicine, immunotherapy, etc. In these research fields, he published more than 50 papers in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, ACS Nano, Advanced Science, Biomaterials, etc.
Di Gao, Ph.D, is currently serving as an associate professor in School of life Science and Technology at Xi’an Jiaotong University. In 2018 She successfully completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from City University of Hong Kong. Her research is primarily dedicated to the development of stimuli-responsive polymers and small-molecule prodrugs, aiming at fabricating multifunctional theranostic nanosystems. She has published over 30 papers in prominent nanomedicine-related journals, such as Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Nano-micro Letters, Small, Journal of Controlled Release, etc.
